Overview
The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) was introduced in April 2011 and paid by means of a specific grant for pupils registered as eligible for Free School Meals (FSM); "Ever6" pupils (i.e. pupils who have been in receipt of FSM during their primary school years), or those who are "looked" after (LAC) by the Local Authority. A premium was also introduced for children whose parents are currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Our Intent
We use the funding to improve the educational outcomes and life skills of pupils identified as ‘disadvantaged’. It enables us to address any ‘gaps’ and overcome ‘barriers’ which may be impacting upon the learning and progress of eligible children, in order for them to reach their full potential and achieve at least age-related expectations by the end of KS1.

To this end, we allocate the spending of our PPG in a variety of ways to supplement ‘quality first teaching’ and to ensure eligible pupils are supported in all aspects of their learning and development. This may include support in areas of the curriculum such as phonics, English and/ or Maths - as well as access to specific intervention programmes for identified individuals - but may take a more ‘pastoral’ form, e.g. helping pupils with their attendance, behaviour or social and emotional development.
We also direct spending to subsidise or fully fund enrichment activities - including healthy snacks, trips, visits and holiday clubs.
The initiatives and interventions we implement are based upon the findings of the Sutton Trust toolkit, Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) and recent research highlighting examples of current thinking and effective practice.
A regular review process, enables us to make changes should we identify that pupils are not benefitting.
